Curtain Hardware Measurement Guide

What if I don’t have Curtain Rods, Rails or Tracks in place yet?

If you don’t have a hardware yet, don’t worry! Hardware can be bought easily off the shelf from any general hardware store, i.e. Bunnings, Hardware & General, Mitre 10 etc. Please get in touch with us if you are after custom made hardware, and we can happily recommend reliable local suppliers to you.

How to Measure for your Curtain Rod or Curtain Rail

  • Measure the width of the window frame and then add 30 - 40cm (12-16”) each side of the window. This will ensure your curtains will fit comfortably cover your window and allow for the gathering of material on each side (2 panels) when the curtains are fully drawn.

  • Ensure you consider the wall space needed to add decorative finials to your rod - these are not usually covered in a rod size. They can add extra length to your rod size (by approx. 5cm each).

Consider how high you want your curtain rod/track. Please note the standard height is approx. 10 – 15 cm above the top of the window frame.

Leuvia Tip: To add the impression of height to a room, mount the rod/ track closer to the ceiling.
